Dissemination is a planned process that involves consideration of target audiences and the settings in which research findings are to be received. And with that, there are few things to consider in the dissemination plan such as the objectives, audience, timeline, and resources.

Objectives are the things you want to achieve. The audience is to identify your audience/s so that you know who you will need to influence to maximize the uptake of the research. Timeline is to when will the dissemination of activity occur? And resources refer to the expertise you have in your research team and whether you need additional help with the dissemination.

In the dissemination phase, there are also principles and strategies to simply get the findings of your research to the people who can as well make use of them, to maximize the benefit of the research without delay.

The principles of the dissemination phase include stakeholder engagement, a format in producing targeted outputs that are in an appropriate format for the user, utilizing opportunities by building partnerships with established networks, and context which is important in understanding the service context of your research.

And the strategies of the dissemination phase comprise partners or influencers to amplify the message of your research study. Next is messaging to resonate the main message of your research findings with your target audience. The channels through the use of social media, websites, conferences, traditional media, journals - which are the most effective ways to communicate your message to your target audience/s. Also in reaching too many people to achieve the required impact through the coverage and frequency. And lastly the potential risks and sensitivities by being aware of the relevant current cultural and political climate and considering how might be perceived by different groups.

A research project cannot be considered complete until its results are effectively communicated to its users and consumers. Therefore communication of research findings is one of the essential and final steps of the research process.
